Food delivery has evolved over the last 5 years in India from aggregation->experience->selection-> {what's next}? The next frontier for food delivery is Discovery.
Phase 1: Aggregation
The zero to one phase of food delivery which enabled access to restaurants and delivery of food by aggregating supply and demand
Phase 2: Experience
The next phase was about building a strong moat in the form of a superlative delivery experience
Phase 3: Selection
The commoditization of delivery happened leading to a shift in focus on increasing the depth and breadth of supply and building a differentiated supply pool through exclusivity and private labels
Phase 4: Discovery
The democratization of supply will lead to commoditization hence forcing the aggregators to solve for new and evolved customer need of personzation, customization, reduce cognitive load and engagement.
Spotifying and netflixing of food is the next frontier for food delivery innovation.
